Psychosocial support

Accolade

Our support services encourage people to develop useful skills, fulfill their potential and learn to recognize their own power. And we always make sure to respect each individual’s pace.

Phone consultation

Phone consultations allow people to talk about what they’re going through and get help quickly, without having to leave their homes.

Individual or family consultations

Individual or family consultations allow participants to increase their knowledge, improve their skills and be a supportive presence for those learning to live with mental illness.

Services for businesses

Personalized coaching services are available for more specific needs. These may be in the form of on-site training on mood, anxiety or personality disorders or a more customized approach tailored to your particular needs. These sessions show employers how they can promote a healthy work environment, increase productivity and efficiency and reduce costs associated with employee burnout. They can also help promote mutual understanding in the workplace and reduce the risk of anxiety, conflict and crisis. Contact us for more information.

Guidance on filing a motion under Bill P-38

We offer services that help loved ones file a motion to order a psychiatric examination under the Act respecting the protection of persons whose mental state presents a danger to themselves or to others.

To support families going through the process of filing a motion for a court order, we offer the following services:

  • Providing assistance in preparing the motion
Here, it is important to show that the individual’s mental state presents a danger to themselves or to others. Facts and observations about the person’s recent behaviour must be outlined in the motion.
  • Assisting with the preliminary steps involved in presenting the motion before the court:
This includes obtaining a letter from a psychiatrist (if necessary), making an appointment with the court, etc.
  • Escorting the individual to court:
Whether it’s to open a record with a court clerk, swear in or present a motion before a judge of the Court of Québec, we are there to help.
  • Escorting the individual to the police station:
In the event that a judge grants the motion and orders a psychiatric examination, we escort individuals to the police station in order to ask for police assistance.
  • And everything that comes next…

After the court procedure is complete, we at L’Accolade make sure to provide continued follow-up services to help families prepare for what’s ahead.
